RESEARCH

Our library and archives are open by appointment between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Enquiries are welcome.

Along with significant collections of operational machinery, natural history specimens and social history artefacts, the Kauri Museum holds extensive documentary and photographic archives relating to the kauri forests, the kauri timber and gum industries. The Museum is also guardian to archives relating to the family histories and genealogies of the early families of the old Otamatea District. These include an oral history archive for the district and business and local clubs and society’s records.

Research assistance by Collections staff is free for the first half hour. A fee to cover time may be charged after this - please discuss with our staff.
